LookBack 2011: Family

Well in 2011, we did not see any new addition to the family and probably not from now on. Personally, I feel 3 is enough because its challenging to divide ourselves into 3 to spend quality time with all of them given our busy schedules.

In 2011, we focused on Ethan’s and Ezanne’s academic developments. Ezanne started attending childcare, at the same centre which Ethan is attending and over the past 9 months, we’ve seen the improvements that Ezanne has made. Ezanne now talks more and is more active and sociable. For Ethan, we started to put him on full day childcare on selected days. The idea was to prepare him for his Primary 1. Well you will say that its still early days but I thought, we can start preparing him progressively.

In addition to his childcare, we also started to bring Ethan for enrichment class and started with one on Saturdays. He is coping well now and we are seeing results.

As for Evan, he is now beginning to learn how to walk. He can converse with us in baby languages that we understand. I’m looking forward to his milestones in 2012.

I do hope that I can continue to spend more time to bond with the children and ensure that they have a memorable childhood.

Birthday greeting from Ethan and Ezanne to Evan

You might be confused but we are not trying to confuse you. Its Evan’s actual birthday today. We just celebrated his birthday earlier previously. 1 year ago, we welcome our 5th member into the family and like Ethan and Ezanne, he had brought us much joy. At 1 year old, Evan is cheeky and more sociable as compared to his siblings. I do not really want to compare him with them as we’ve noticed ourselves, 3 children had 3 different personalities. As he turns 1, we look forward to more milestones and surprises that he has for us and like Ethan and Ezanne, my wish for him is to have a memorable childhood. For now, I thought, he is already having one and lucky to have Ethan and Ezanne singing birthday song for him.

Its teamwork. Ethan and Ezanne style.

This morning, we had our breakfast at Changi City Point Toast Box. While mummy was eating, I took Ethan, Ezanne and Evan out for a walk. So we saw a Christmas Tree and I ask Ethan and Ezanne if they wanted to take a picture. Then they decided that they wanted to take and gladly pose for me (surprised especially when you see Ezanne pose).

After that, Ethan suggested that Evan should take a picture with me too. So he took my iPhone and Ezanne was standing behind him trying to get the attention of Evan and shouted “Di Di, Di Di” and was clapping her hands. So how did the picture look like?

I love this picture. Its not because it turn out better than I expected but the teamwork both Ethan and Ezanne put into which made this picture PERFECT!

Evan turns 1

Time flies pass us really quickly and Evan is turning 1 this December. Strictly speaking, he will only turn 1 on 16 December but we had an early celebration for him. As compared to Ethan and Ezanne, Evan’s 1st birthday celebration was much simpler. There was no buffet, just some cooked food that we bought and we took the opportunity to barbecue as well. My uncle was our designated chef for the night.

Evan’s birthday was also the first one which I attempted to update the day’s event on their dedicated fanpage. Something which I hope I can do for future celebrations for Ethan and Ezanne as well. Since Evan was born in the Year of the Tiger, we got a Tigger like cake for him.

It was definitely one of the happiest night for Evan as we can see from the smiles on his face.

Well, that’s all for his 1st Birthday Celebration as we need to start cracking our head for Ezanne’s 3rd Birthday.

Getting on the kiddie ride

Earlier this evening, it was once of those days which I get a rare chance to get home early. Since I was home early, we brought Ethan, Ezanne and Evan for a short walk. While mummy was shopping for her stuff, Ethan and Ezanne decided to spend some time at the kiddie ride. Evan saw it and wanted to get on the ride.

After mummy was done, we got all three of them into one and look at them, they simply enjoy it. Evan was fascinated with it and started making lots of noise. As they were busy exploring the ride, it was not really easy to get a shot of them and the picture you’ve seen, is one of the best that Mummy took.

Our annual photo shoot

Every year, we will go to a different studio or search for a different photographer to take our family photo. Basically, I want to document the changes in our family and how much the children have grown. You will be amazed at how much the children change, both facial and physical. Most importantly, during the photo shoot, the children must enjoy themselves.

This year, we’ve selected Benjamin Loo to be our photographer. Ethan and Ezanne were really relaxed and Evan was alittle cranky. Ethan really enjoyed himself. He was going around posing and Ezanne just followed what he was doing.

Evan was just being guided and he just couldn’t sit on stand still so he made the entire session alittle challenging. But I’m glad that Ethan was guiding his siblings during the entire session and he just warm them up.

We really love this set of photos that we had taken and we hope you like it too. You may view the full set of photos at my fanpage.

Evan at 10 months old

Evan is not exactly 10 months old yet but almost 10 months old to be exact (another 1 week before turning 10 months). At 10 months, Evan has made several milestones. These days Evan prefers to sit then to lie on bed. Although he still needs some assistance in getting into the sitting position but he is progressing well and should be able to sit on his own soon. He is also beginning to crawl, which I think the exciting times are coming ahead. Take alook at the following video which I’ve recorded. Evan was enjoying himself playing with Ethan.

He is blabbering more now and the first word that he said was Dad Dad and Pa Pa. When I first heard that, I was lost for words.

Evan is also proving to be quite a tough one too. He is becoming more playful and starts bullying his sister like pulling her hair and pinching her. Since he is teething, sometimes, he will even bite his sister. Well, I just hope the 3 of them will be able to live happily ever after.

Always keeping our promise

As my children grows older, I realised that there is a need to keep our promise, our promise to them of what we want to do for them. I’ve experienced it myself and it hurts really deeply when you see how disappointed they are. For example, I was supposed to bring them to the Science Centre last Sunday, but due to some last minute engagement, we’ve got to cancel the trip. Can you imagine how disappointed they were when we told them? They were all changed and all ready to leave the house.

Ever since this incident, I told myself that I should avoid disappointing them and to all the parents out there, if you promise your children on something, make sure you do it! In order to compensate them, I specially took leave today and brought them to the cinema for a movie. I’m glad they enjoy it though its probably not good enough to heal the wounds of their disappointment.

Paint a Smurf with Ethan and Ezanne

If you’ve been reading this blog, you will know that I just ran a competition for my readers to win a chance to paint a smurf with your family. Well, I got the chance too as I brought Ethan and Ezanne to Northpoint for this special session organized by Fraser Centrepoint Malls. We were actually late but luckily we arrived in time to start painting our smurf. Both Ethan and Ezanne each got a smurf to paint.

At 5, Ethan more or less knows what he wants to do. He knows what colour he wants to paint and how he wants his smurf to look like. For Ezanne, it was more like a plaything for her.

Although we did not win anything at the end of session, the children enjoyed themselves very much and at least, both of them were given a chance to show off their creativity. It was also a session where we got a chance to take a family photo (hmm, Evan not in).

Calling names

Ezanne is talking much more these days and somehow, she observed and managed to remember all our names. Well, knowing our names isn’t a really bad thing, but, she has also decided to address us by our names. Instead of greeting us as Dad and Mum, she now calls us by our names. She is so cheeky that whenever we stop her from doing so, she will want to do it even more.

As for Evan, he had started blabbering and sometimes, we could hear him calling Papa, thought we are not quite sure about it.
