What it feels like to be old

2 weeks ago, I was invited to attend a session titled “A Day in My Future” organized by Council for Third Age (C3A). It was a session where there was an active discussions on old aged issues and how we prepare ourselves for our old age. What’s interesting about this session was we were given a chance to become ‘old’. Together with other bloggers, we were ‘dressed up’ and all set to experience being ‘old’

We went through quite a number of challenges. First, we were made to climb the stairs (with us ‘stiff bones’), breathe through straws to simulate breathing difficulties. Then we were told to look for some information using our mobile phones which was quite a challenge to me since I had ‘cataract’ and finally answering questions when I had difficulty in hearing.

Through these activities, I’ve got a better understanding of what our Senior Citizens are going through and learnt to appreciate them more. It also makes me start thinking how do I want my old age to be. For more information on ‘A Day in My Future’ fanpage for more details of the session.

It has become an annual affair

Each year, during Ethan’s 2nd of a series of birthday celebrations, he will usually be celebrating it with his uncle and aunties. It was no exception this year. During the birthday celebrations, there is always a time for a family photo shoot and this has become an annual affair. Its amazing that we had been doing this for 3 years and looking at the pictures, you will observe there are changes – we’ve got additional family members and the children are growing really fast.

Can’t wait to take another one next year.

Finally a birthday cake

This is the 2nd year that Ethan celebrated his birthday at Resorts World Sentosa and like his mum, we always have the problem of reminding the hotel staff that they should promptly deliver the cake to us. This year, it was alittle exceptional. Upon checking in, I enquired about the cake and was told that it will be delivered to ask after 5pm. At 5pm, someone knocked on the door and YES, the cake was here.

Since Ethan was really happy and we were all in the mood, we quickly get together to sing a birthday song for Ethan.

So here it is, Ethan’s 1st celebration for his 5th birthday!

Ethan’s birthday celebration at USS (Part 3)

By the time we completed Shrek 4-D, the children begin to show signs of tiredness. After toilet break, we move on to Jurassic Park.

We stop by at the food court to rest our legs and fill our tummy. The food court was quite spacious but the food options were limited. We had chicken rice, though look appealing but it isn’t really tasty.

Since the children were tired, we did not have a chance to play the rides as the waiting time for each ride was approximately 60 minutes. We then move on to the Revenge of The Mummy and finally passing through Battlestar Galatica. Overall, I thought the children enjoyed themselves very much though it will be more suitable for children aged 5 and above.

Ethan’s birthday celebration at USS (Part 2)

After all the photo taking with the characters, we started our first ride, Madagascar, A Crate Adventure. Thanks to the rain, it was not really that crowded initially and we only waited for about 20 minutes before we got our turn to take the ride. I was also wondering how will Ezanne react to the effects.

Though at some parts of it she was really frightened, but I’m glad there were some parts of it which were able to divert her attention. I exceptionally love these photos that I’ve taken of the 2 of them.

Our next ride or rather attraction is Shrek 4D Adventure. Ethan definitely enjoyed himself with all the effects. After the 4D adventure, Ethan took the Magic Potion Spin with mummy.

Just before we move on to the next attraction, wifey, Ethan and Ezanne took some time off to rest and give me a thumbs up!

Ethan’s birthday celebration at USS (Part 1)

Although we have been to Universals Studios Singapore’s After Hours but frankly speaking, we’ve not toured the entire theme park before. Look, our visit to the theme park had a gloomy start initial as it was raining heavily and we even have to get poncho for ourselves.

Eventually, when we got into USS, the rain finally stopped and we started our magical journey. As usual, we started to take pictures with the different cartoon characters. First was Woody Woodpecker and next was Po from Kunfu Panda.

Luckily the queue ain’t that long it was about 15 minutes wait before its our turn to take photos with the characters. Since the children were hungry, we stop by at Mel’s Drive in for lunch.

After lunch, just before we went for our first ride, wifey spotted Shrek and we took the opportunity to have a photo taken with Shrek and Fiona. I will say, this is our best picture for this entire visit.

Busy. Support. Importance.

Over the past 30 days is one of the busiest days in my life. I was exposed to a whole new world and I was simply doing things which I’ve never dreamt of and meeting people whom I’ve never thought I will meet. Meetings after meetings, discussions after discussions, whenever I get home, my children will probably be asleep.

One night, wifey talked to me. She told me how she felt and said that she will support me in whatever I do after all, she always feels that I will decide on a matter first and tell her later or even if I’ve tell her, she knew what my decision is. Upon hearing that, I was really touched, somehow I though, have I left her out any where in my left? I will say NO. I’m someone who doesn’t really show my feelings and is someone who hope that my other half will feel it even when I don’t show it. Its a challenging task but life ain’t that easy at all. She will know how important she is in my life.

One day, I came across a song from my friend’s blog. Its called Grow Old With You and I hope my wifey will Grow Old With Me!

Punggol’s 2nd FBTweetUp

After 5 months, I finally organized the 2nd FBTweetUp. But unlike the first where we sit down and chat, the 2nd one was more of a walkabout, brining the followers around Punggol Street Parade and understanding more about what it is all about. I always like these meetups as I will get to know new friends and I’ve just made many new friends again after Sunday’s FBTweetUp.

I always thought that its a challenge to organize a FBTweetUp as you never know how many people will actually turn up on the event day although many of them sign up. The hard truth is not many since most people, like me, are probably shy and don’t know what to expect at first. Its always advisable to go with a partner.

I’m not too sure when will I ever do a FBTweetUp again since there is a lot of work organizing one, my friendly friends Daphne, Nick and Antonio will (I hope) share the same thoughts as me. I hope the participants who attended the 2 FBTweetUps had enjoyed themselves as much as I do.

Evan at 7 months

Time flies and Evan turns 7 months last Saturday. At 7 months, its a month of several changes. He was supposed to change his formula milk from Stage 1 to 2, somehow, he had become sensitive to the change and became sick. We had also observed some physical changes. Other than growing bigger each day, he had started teething, 2 teeths started to grow. He had also become more responsive to the surroundings and starts to tell us his dislikes. For example, when we want to put him down to his bed, he will start shaking his head to tell her that he doesn’t want to and he has also learnt to shake our hands when we stretch our hands out.

Is this song irritating?

I was driving wifey to work this morning when we heard over the radio of a particular song which had created a commotion in Taiwan. Some people find the song irritating and according to the DJs, there had been media report that the song was sang to catch the attention of the people.

I’ve heard the song and seriously I thought there is nothing wrong with it. The music is pretty good except probably the problem lies with the vocal but it seems, the singer purposely sang it this way. Watch the video and tell me if you like it.
