It is surely not an easy job as you know children becomes cranky when they are sick. If you’ve been following me on Twitter or The E’s fanpage, you will know by now that they have fell sick at almost the same time and down with fevers and ulcers. Both Ethan and Evan has more than 3 ulcers at the throat while Ezanne has 2 on her gums. As an adult, we know that it becomes a painful thing to eat when we have ulcers so it will be a terrible thing for the children to suffer from it as well. Basically, all were crying for pain and refused to eat.
Though we had consulted the GP earlier on but we thought its better to send them to KKH A&E to confirm if they were suffering from HFMD.
It was very crowded at the A&E and almost every child was down with fever. Since Evan was below 6 months and running a temperature, he was given priority to see the doctor. Ethan and Ezanne tag along and they each took turn to see the doctor. The doctor confirmed that since they did not have blisters, its definitely not HFMD. According to her, it has become quite common these days for children to be suffering from ulcers (more than 1). Is this the mutated version of HFMD? I don’t know but its surely a worrying sign.
Ethan was still able to take his normal feeding, Ezanne has a problem drinking from the bottle and we have to change it to cup feed and for Evan, we got to feed him through the syringe cause he was having problem swallowing as it was simply too painful for him.
During the consultation, the doctor asked about the time they took medication and it was a challenge. They had medication at 3 different timings and that’s why wifey had kept a record book to track.
While I’m making this post now, the 3 of them are gradually improving. Hope they will get well soon.
