If you are in Central Hong Kong, near SoHo to be exact, you should try the deserts at Hang Fa Lau.

Its a nice cosy place to chit chat with your friends with affordable and tasty deserts. We ordered 4 items, Walnut Soup, Hawthorne Soup, Sago Skin Rice Balls and Turnip Cake (Carrot Cake). Wifey and Huifan (one of my friend who is with us on this trip) had the Walnut Soup and Hawthorne Soup. According to them, it was simply good and just look at their satisfying face.
I had the Sago Skin Rice balls and we ordered the Turnip Cake (Fried Carrot cake) to share. First, the Sago Skin Rice balls. We usually have riceballs which has the skin made of flour, but for this, it was made of Sago. It was sticky, chewy and apparently, the sesame paste that went with it did not stick onto the skin, which makes it really good. The rice balls were accompanied by ginger soup.
Finally, we shared the Turnip cake, which was in fact our carrot cake. It has Chinese sausages and mushrooms and was abit soft. Its a definite must try.
The next time you visit Hong Kong, remember to visit this desert shop. Its located at Shop C, G/F, 32-34 Cochrane Street, Central, Hong Kong.
