My best friend’s wedding

I attended by best friend’s wedding on Friday. I was really happy for her and honoured since I was the only one from my secondary school she invited. I hope her husband will not kill me cause I got him (the groom) to take the picture below for me and my wife was standing by the side too.

The wedding was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel at Changi Airport. It was my first time attending a wedding dinner at the hotel and I love the ballroom. It has a cozy feeling, excellent ballroom layout and nice design.

These days, wedding videos are getting more and more innovative and creative. For Esther, it was a love story – how it started, developed and end of with living happily ever after.

The dinner was also a time when I started camwhoring with children. I particularly like this photo below. We took this photo in front of the mirror and the idea was to make use of the mirror image. I like how the photo appeared to be, at least, its what I wanted, the 3 of us in a picture.

Ethan starts schooling on Saturdays

Today marks another milestone for Ethan, going for enrichment class on Saturday. He was actually quite worried before we left home and asked questions like, “Does the school have any toilets?”, “Do I need to sleep in school?”. Though Ethan has been attending school at the childcare on a daily basis (except Saturdays and Sundays), but we thought there is still a need to further expose him. Frankly, not only for Ethan, but wifey and me had no idea what to expect on the first day of the class.

One and a half hours later, the worries that was all over Ethan’s face earlier were all gone. He came out of the classroom smiling and said that he enjoyed the class. There are homework for him to complete and so I guess, my weekends will be spent doing homework with him. Its worthwhile since its another way of bonding.

Communication

At Work. At Home. At Anywhere. Communication is the most important thing. While I’m constantly communicating with my colleagues at work, I realised that I’ve not talk to Ethan for about 3 days, he sleeps and wakes up earlier than me and I come back home and wakes up later than him. Sometimes, I just miss talking to him since he can really help me to forget my worries.

While I was going through Instagram, I discovered a new app called Diptic which can help you to slice pictures and combine them into 1. I’m beginning to love this app and my very first picture is of course, the picture of my 3 children, Ethan.Ezanne.Evan.

Facebook Places, The Next Foursquare?

Facebook Places has finally reached our shores and while I was anticipating about it at first, I became irritated on the day itself when it was launched. Facebook Places works almost like Foursquare, you check in to a location and you tell people where you are and leave a comment to share with your friends. While Places has an advantage of telling you which friends are near you, it is the alert which puts me off. Somehow, it doesn’t stop alerting you where your friends have checked in, I mean, frankly speaking, I doesn’t want to stalk my friend and track their movement.

Apparently, it seems that people are beginning to get addicted to check in and if you don’t believe me, here’s a screen shot of it.

This was just a random screenshot and 4 out of 5 of my friends actually checked into Places. Personally, I thought the job of checking in should be left to Foursquare. What do you think?

Life as a young dad

Life as a young dad is fun and fulfilling yet stressful and needs sacrifices. I personally feel that because I’m young, I’m able to connect with my children, at least, I’ve got the energy to run around and play with them, though it can be really tiring at times. There are also some sacrifices you will need to make, less personal time and when you are meeting up with your friends, you either bring the children along or you simply don’t meet your friends at all.

3 children with 3 different characters and it can be really challenging to manage them. You cannot expect all to behave in the same way when the same command is given. 1 will be stubborn, the other might probably listen and maybe the third simply doesn’t bother at all.

Ethan is turning 5 this year and we are gradually teaching him how to be independent. He goes to school and he comes home to share with us or at least me to make it a point of what’s happening in school. Its a way of keeping communication going so that when he grows up and move on to primary and secondary school, he will just keep sharing with me (fingers cross).

Is there such a thing call Daddy’s girl? I don’t know but somehow, Ezanne does wacky stuff with me, like taking crazy photos and she is somehow alittle more attached to me. While Ethan sees me as a discipline master, Ezanne doesn’t thinks I am at all. She don’t believe in scolding but prefers sweet talk when disciplining her.

This 2 month old boy is certainly building his character. He hates to be alone and loves to communicate with his elder brother and sister. At this age, he is considered the more active one as compared to Ethan and Ezanne.

So who says there is no fun being a dad?

Instagram Top 50

This week marks my 200th picture post on Instagram. Since I sign up in December 2010, I just did not stop posting on Instagram and was quite impressed with the effects of the photos after applying the filters. Instagram has special meaning for me as I did my first project for Evan, Project 30, where it tracks Evan’s day-by-day growth. I always thought that Instagram was one of the greatest app since we are able to tell a story through the photos that we post. You can follow me on Instagram, just find me by my username, patrickpang.

Here’s the Top 50 pictures that I like most. Did you see any pictures that you like?

My first Corporate Photoshoot

I’ve finally got a chance to do a corporate photo shoot and to appear on a small section, and I mean that its really small section to share about my experience on my studies. There were no makeup done since I understand that they will be doing photoshop.

Somehow I thought this photo shoot is alittle difficult compared to those I’ve done with my family. I didn’t feel really comfortable and the smiles just doesn’t come naturally. In order to have the ‘SMILE’ effect, the photographer told me to say ‘Hi’ for every shot. It was really tiring and its the most number of Hi(s) that I’ve ever said.

I wonder who will the photo will turn out and is really eager to take a look at it.

What does Valentine day mean to you?

I know I’m alittle late, but being late is better than never – Never talk about this day, Valentine Day. It was just a usual day for me and wifey, except that wifey sent me a Happy Valentine Day message and I replied same to you. While you might think that I’m not romantic, I thought my time, money and effort can be spent on some other better stuff. Based on the status that my friends posted on Facebook and Twitter, you might think for a moment that its either the flower festival or Christmas since everyone were posting photos on the flowers and gifts they received.

Seeing all these, I posted the following text on my Twitter and see what valentine day was all about.

Is Valentine day about gifts and flowers or ??

Well, 3 of my friends on Twitter responded, surprisingly all girls and they said…

So what does Valentine day means to you?

Chinese New Year Garden Lunch @ Istana

It was a once in a lifetime experience. It was an experience not to be missed. A chance to step into Istana, the official residence of the President for a function, The Chinese New Year Garden Lunch.

The function was graced by the Prime Minister and his cabinet minister and it was an opportunity for them to mingle with the people. It was also an opportunity for people like me to go up close with the ministers and take photos with them. Among those that I’ve taken picture with were DPM, Min. for MCYS, Min. for Home Affairs, Min. for Foreign Affairs, my MP and last but not least the Prime Minister.

This was definitely a memorable experience for me.

Marina Bay Sands Skypark – A different experience for every visit

I’ve made my 5th visit yesterday since the opening of the Skypark last year. Every visit that I’ve made seems to be a different experience. I still remember during my first visit that there were no F&B outlets at the skypark itself and there were several developments around the Marina Bay area. Up till today, some of the developments at Fullerton and Marina Bay Financial Centre has been completed and Gardens By The Bay is slowly shaping out.

Workers were busy putting finishing touches to the soon-to-be open Art Science Museum.

When you are at the skypark, you must visit the Infinity Pool, the highest swimming pool in Singapore.

My previous visit to the skypark was at most 30 to 45 minutes. But this time, I stayed on for approximately 2 hours. So I managed to see the Singapore city skyline in the day and in the night. When the lights were on, the scene was just BEAUTIFUL!

As, it was the Chingay Parade last night, we managed to catch a glimpse of it from the skypark. But what I really do like was the changing colours of the Singapore Flyer.

I’m looking forward to my next visit at the Skypark.
