Yes, that was the boy whom I saw walking through the jungle with a girl. The boy is my son, ETHAN! As the days draws nearer to the performance, my heart gets heavier, I wonder to myself, “Will Ethan get stage fright? Will he be doing a good job? Will he get cranky and start making a big fuss and just walk away?”
This was the first time that Ethan was performing in front of us, at least, after getting some expert advise so we will want to snap and record this moment. As we walk into the childcare, I told wifey that I thought we were camera crew ready to take pictures and record a video.
Just before the actual show begins, the teacher got the children to do some warming up. This is important as they needs to get into the momentum to perform.
After the warm up, it was the show proper. Initially, we were told by Ethan that he was going to take on the role as a bird, but somehow, one of the students who was acting as the boy going through the jungle was sick and couldn’t make it today, so Ethan took over that role. The moment when Ethan started to perform, I almost burst into tears. Exaggerating you might think, but as a parent, seeing your children performing in front of you, with minimal guidance, you just got to be super proud of him/her and thinking how wonderful the world is. We, as parents, witness his growth, from a baby who only knows how to drink milk to a 4 years old today who is performing right in front of us.
This is the second surprise that Ethan has given me. Remember the first? So what’s the next surprise from Ethan?
