Hong Kong Special: Yung Kee Restaurant

This is a special food review direct from Hong Kong, since this is where I am now. Wifey is super jealous that I’m visiting this place again, Yung Kee Restaurant. 3 years ago, her distant relative brought us to this restaurant and ever since, we told ourselves that if we were to return to Hong Kong, we got to visit this restaurant again.

Yung Kee is famous for their roast goose. Before you actually start your main course, they will actually serve a plate of century egg first. The century egg is fabulous, watery egg yolk, quite different from the one we have in Singapore. The next dish that we had was pig thigh. According to the waitress, that is their signature dish and they are the only restaurant in Hong Kong serving this dish. It taste like Bak Kwa in Singapore.

Then came the popular dish. At the bottom of this dish are roast peanuts which are pretty tasty.

However, their side dish isn’t that fantastic. At least, this HKD$95 Toufu did not convince me that its worth so much. It was just fried toufu.

Then the roast duck was pretty fattening.

Be prepared that you will need to queue for quite sometime as it is quite crowded especially between 7pm to 9pm. Overall, I thought its still worth visiting if you are a roast goose lover. By the way, SM Goh visited this restaurant before. You can visit their website for more information.

Forgot to tell you to make reservation in advance. I made a reservation over the internet last time and it was really fast and painless, no need to wait for seats.

Luckily I didn’t have to wait. But I’m quite surprised to see queue even until 9pm…
