1 week without a maid

And I’m glad to say that we are all still surviving. Since my maid tendered her resignation (well sort of) last week, my whole perspective of maid and whether to have one have changed completely. When my maid told my wife that she wanted to go back to the agency, my response was, “Yes please, you may carry on.” Since she doesn’t want to work with us anymore, there is no point in asking her to stay, after all, she will become our liability instead.

For the past one week, I’ve realised that there is more freedom at home doing what you want. At least, you don’t always feel that there is an outsider at home watching you. I also felt that I seems to bond even closer with the children. Since everyone are busy with the house chores (which I doesn’t do at all), I took up the responsibility of looking after the children. I brought them out more often and played with them more.

While we are expecting the arrival of Evan, we all thought that we will need a maid at least until Evan turns 4 when he is more independent. When he reach 4, we’ve decided that we are going to say bye bye to maid and look after the children ourselves.
