Early National Day for Ethan

National Day might be more than a month away, but we just got a taste of what its going to be like for NDP 2010. The 21 gun salute was located at the War Memorial Park and the effects was just amazing. Its the first time all of us see it at such close distance and I can only say that it blew me away.

The good thing was it isn’t really crowded this time but I suppose its going to be as we get nearer to National Day itself. The next thing was the fly past. The sound was deafening and surprisingly, Ethan was quite scared (when in actual fact that he had been to the air show before). Personally I thought this was much better than the air show and of course, able to see flag flying directly above you, that’s something that no everyone will be able to experience. Ethan was simply amazed with the size of the flag.

Whenever NDP is held at Padang, there will definitely be mobile columns. Ethan managed to get up close and personal with the tanks, though, he was actually quite worried to get close to them. So I got mummy and myself to take a picture with him.

After the 21 gun salute was over, we managed to get up close and personal with the 25 pounder. We were able to get some photo opportunity with it.

Ethan was actually quite scared sitting on the 25 pounder so I got mummy to accompany to take a better shot.

Great Singapore Submerged

This is the sale season, The Great Singapore Sale, but this June, it seems that it has also become The Great Singapore Submerged, GSS of a different kind. It was just a week ago when Orchard Road practically became Orchard River and I thought, “Wah, so heng, I’m on leave!”

This time round, I was not so lucky. It took me 1hr 30 minutes to reach office and I was caught in a massive traffic jam the moment I left home till I reach office. Along the way, there was large pool of water, or maybe should we call them flooding? The wind was strong and while driving, suddenly, a tree branch dropped and hit my windscreen. Luckily, there isn’t any damage.

Our next episode was I actually couldn’t send wife right to her office door step. Just take a look at the picture below.

I foresee such incidents will be very frequent in the future as the effects of global warming become more and more evident.

The C.F.F of a Relationship

I just celebrated my 7th Dating Anniversary with my wife. Celebrations, erm, there isn’t any but I spend most of the day at work. I just thought there are too many important dates and have decided that I should just minimize it to 1, the ROM date. Actually, if I’m gonna be calculative and celebrate every important dates, then I will have dating anniversary, ROM, customary wedding and the list just goes on.

I still remember that for our 1st Dating Anniversary, we went to Long John Silvers at Novena Square. We sat at the exact same spot where we first date and the feeling was cool. It went on for the 2nd and 3rd year (if I remember correctly), but since, due to work commitments, we stopped that. And today, with 2 kids around, its rather difficult to spend time just between the 2 of us and what’s more, the Long John Silver outlet has shrunk in size and the seat that we used to take is no longer there.

7 years and still going strong and how do we manage that since we got married so young? Personally, I practice the principle of C.F.F, Complain, Forgive and Forget. Ever since day one, I always tell my wife that whenever she is not happy with me or I’m not happy with her, we should just sound the other party out – this is what I call complain. You can quarrel over it but most importantly, one party must give in and subsequently, both parties must be willing to forgive each other. And to live happily ever after, both should just forget about the entire episode and move on. While you might think that its an easy task, I thought its definitely a difficult one, especially the forgetting one.

As we grow and mature, what is most important is not celebrations but to enjoy and cherish the companionship that you have.

Accidental visit to East Coast

It was meant to be just a Sunday morning, having breakfast with the children and fetching their grandparents from the market. But since there was extra time, we decided to bring them to East Coast Park. The beach near the lagoon and food centre has a Sand Castle section where people build different types and sizes of sand castle, so I thought it will be a great place to bring Ethan to.

Well, the first thing that Ethan said when he saw it was ,”Wow, so nice”. While many were destroyed by some of the beach goers, there were still some that were quite intact. Ethan was so fascinated with all the sand castles that he told me he wants to go back and pack his stuff and rush back to the beach. My answer to him was, “Next time…”

SEE them

SEE Them, they are Shernice (S), Ethan (E) and Ezanne (E). There was a day when the 3 of them met and started to play together. Either they bully or were bullied but I guess, they are enjoying themselves very much. So we brought them to Parkway Parade to take a ride where all 3 of them would be able to take it together and this was what happened – 3 persons, 3 different personalities, 3 different response.

Are my tweets gone?

From near 6000 tweets and back to near 1000 tweets, so what happened to my 5000 tweets? I don’t know. What I know is all thanks to World Cup, Twitter is unable to keep up with the load and the servers crashed. According to their official blog, they will be carrying out more maintenance work (outside World Cup time) to improve the situation.

As they have clearly put it, its the worst month for Twitter and frankly speaking, I’ve not experience so much problem until recently. 2 days ago, I could not even tweet at all. They had problem connecting to the server and it was 4pm in Singapore and I guess everyone in South Africa were tweeting about getting ready for the upcoming match. Then, it came duplicate tweets. Everyone were having duplicate tweets and for me, I just had to keep deleting the extra ones.

I hope the situation will improve and they will be able to bring back all my tweets.

If you are interested, you can follow me on Twitter too.

Ethan and his chopsticks

YES, we finally found it. Its a pair of Thomas The Train chopsticks for left handed children. We’ve been searching high and low for it and found it at a so unexpected to find place, Thomson Medical Centre (TMC). Each pair costs $17. When we present it to Ethan, he was so happy that he wanted it almost immediately. But we told him that he can only use it when its meal time.

During dinner time, Ethan quickly get the chopsticks and start eating with it. His dinner was especially tasty and nice.

Charice’s Pyramid

A long long time since I last posted a music video on my blog. But I came across this meaningful song on Channel V and thought I just got to share with everyone. The song is titled Pyramid and sung by Charice. I was reading the lyrics and loved almost every part of it especially the chorus,

Pyramid, we built this on a solid rock
It feels just like it's heaven's touch
Together at the top (at the top baby),
like a pyramid
And even when the wind is blowing
We'll never fall just keep on going
Forever we will stay, like a pyramid

I hope you will enjoy this song as much as I do and I make a pledge to myself, I want to learn how to sing this song and one day, at an appropriate function, I shall sing it to my wife.

Arnold Chicken

These days, you will be spoilt for choices for home delivery meals and on a Saturday evening, I’ve decided to order Arnold Chickens to give it a try. I last had Arnold Chicken when I was about 10 years old. It took about 1 and a half hours for the food to arrive after I’ve ordered and it was really hot. However, not too sure what’s the reason, the box itself was really soft and the fried bun and chicken were alittle soggy.

The taste was different from KFC. We thought the standard was between KFC and Popeye and the chicken was alittle dry, but we love the large servings. At least, you get to eat the chicken meat. If you observed, KFC chickens these days are 70% fried skin and 30% chicken meat. There seems to be some herbs that were used to marinate the chicken.

Their staff were friendly and even explained to me that there were be some delays in delivery due to overwhelming orders. If you are like me just have no idea of what to order, you can always go to their website to take a look at their menu.

Overall, we thought that this is something that is taken once a while and it might taste better if we eat it at their stalls. For now, I will rate it 3/5.

Saturday Family Retreat

Finally able to take some time out to bring the kids out to a shopping mall for a walk. Ever since we know that Jingyi is pregnant, we’ve spent most of our Saturdays at home as she was really sick, due to morning sickness. After attending a baby shower today, I brought the kids to United Square to enjoy Ben n Jerry ice cream and a walk at Toys ‘R’ Us.

There was a pleasant surprise for Ethan actually. There was a Ben 10 LIVE show which he enjoyed very much. As for Ezanne, she seems too young to appreciate it, she is so scared of the loud music.

Coincidentally, we met Jeffrey and family. Its been a long time since both families came out together and a long time since we last see Issac. Jingyi had a quick conversation with Ada while Ethan and Issac was enjoying the performance. For parents info, the Ben 10 LIVE show ends on 20 June and you can visit United Square website for more details.

After the show, we had Ben n Jerry ice cream and Ethan and Ezanne enjoyed it very much.

While eating, we also started to pose for some pictures. The most irritating part was either Ethan was smiling or Ezanne was smiling, both of them just simply doesn’t smile at the same time at the same click! See it for yourself.

After the ice cream session, we continued to Toys ‘R’ Us and Ethan got yet another train. No, its no more Thomas the Train, this time, its Chuggington.

I’m glad both of them enjoyed themselves today and I shall start planning where we should go next.
