Dad will be going for a minor surgery next week and I was accompanying him to see the doctor today. From room to room, nurses to nurses, discussing his condition and making arrangements on the payment for his surgery, I just suddenly thought that I’ve grown up.
Those were the days when he brought me to the clinic, paid for my medical expenses and trying to find out what was happening to me. Now, the cycle is moving and its my turn, bringing him to the clinic, paying for his medical expenses and trying to find out what is happening to him.
You call this aging? You call this life? Well, maybe it is. Personally, I thought this is the human cycle where we age and when we come a point in time when we need to rely on our children. These days, I’ve been running a few errands for my parents and this is when I thought its pay back time to them. We should do whatever we can when they are still around and not regret later.
Of course, I do hope that one day when I grow old, my children will be there for me. After all, I’m someone who can’t be alone and needs lots of companionship.

we always take it for granted that our parents will always be with us and we never realise that they are also getting on in age. i had a rude wake up call when i had to send my father to the hospital in an ambulance a few years ago.
hope your father will recover quickly after the surgery.
