Happy Birthday to my dearest Wifey!

Its my wifey’s birthday today and I’ve planned for a series of birthday celebrations for her. The first day was on Vesak day. While the plan was for her to have a memorable and enjoyable one, yet it turn out to be one that I will want to forget. We checked into Hard Rock Hotel @ Resorts World @ Sentosa and we were unable to find a carpark lot (carpark was full due to USS) and the hotel actually forgot about wifey’s cake. As a gentlemen, I shall not elaborate on the incident anymore since RWS had made some form of compensation.

We did not really take much pictures as I was totally not in the mood for it since the series of unfortunate event. The next day, we check out and headed to 313 @ Somerset to get a cake from the The Icing Room. In case you are new to it, The Icing Room allows you to choose a cake size of your choice, available in vanilla or chocolate flavour and next, you can start to design your own cake. I’m really happy cause wifey told me, “I didn’t know you will design a cake for me.” Well, I thought, that’s me, always finding ways to surprise her. *ok, I’m alittle thick skin*

And if you are wondering what PEE is, PEE is Patrick.Ethan.Ezanne. As usual, Ethan was really excited about the whole birthday cake thingy and I’m glad that everyone enjoyed.

SYOG Opening & Closing Ceremony Tix

I always wanted to share this piece of news but had forgotten, but well, I finally remembered again. Balloting for free NDP tickets is always so difficult, I wonder why when there is more seats available etc. But balloting for paid SYOG Opening & Closing Ceremony Tix seems to be so much easier when there are less seats up for grab.

I tried my luck for 2 opening ceremony tickets (they cost $120 each, so I just balloted for 2) and 4 closing ceremony tickets (they cost $40 each, so you will know why I balloted more for this) and guess what, I’ve got it! I personally thought this is a must go event since we wouldn’t know when it will ever be held in Singapore and of course, its happening at The Float @ Marina Bay – beautiful Singapore city skyline.

Frankly speaking, I’m still not sure what my work schedule will be like in August but if I can’t attend, I can also give it to my other family members to attend this historic ceremony.

Keisuke Tokyo

I’m not an avid Japanese food lover but will have the courage to try it as and when I feel like it. I was in the Marina Bay area last week and decided to head down to Parco Millennia Walk to see what’s available. All the restaurants located at Level 3 of Parco Millennia are all Japanese restaurants and I decided to try, hmm… Keisuke Tokyo. Why? Cause when I pass by the restaurant, I could smell the aroma of prawn soup.

I ordered the special ramen while wifey ordered the Chicken Cha Shu.

The special ramen comes with chicken (something like drunkard chicken). Its cold and chewy and I love it very much. The prawn soup is tasty but I personally thought that its alittle saltish. The noodle is chewy as well. In terms of servings, I thought its quite acceptable. As for the chicken cha shu, wifey told me that with their special sauce, it was really tasty.

On top of the 2 main dish, we ordered 2 side dish too, fried dumpling and deep fried prawn.

We always thought that the fried dumpling would be served in the traditional shape which restaurant usually serve. But in Keisuke Tokyo, it was actually RECTANGULAR! But, regardless of the shape, they were not stingy on the filling and it was excellent. As for the deep friend prawn, it simply melt in your mouth. It was fantastic. Overall, the presentation of the food was good and I thought I will rate them 3.5/5.

If you want to try it, they are located at P3-02 at Parco Millennia Walk. You can also go to their website to find out more about this restaurant (but sadly, it is in Japanese).

I’ve grown up

Dad will be going for a minor surgery next week and I was accompanying him to see the doctor today. From room to room, nurses to nurses, discussing his condition and making arrangements on the payment for his surgery, I just suddenly thought that I’ve grown up.

Those were the days when he brought me to the clinic, paid for my medical expenses and trying to find out what was happening to me. Now, the cycle is moving and its my turn, bringing him to the clinic, paying for his medical expenses and trying to find out what is happening to him.

You call this aging? You call this life? Well, maybe it is. Personally, I thought this is the human cycle where we age and when we come a point in time when we need to rely on our children. These days, I’ve been running a few errands for my parents and this is when I thought its pay back time to them. We should do whatever we can when they are still around and not regret later.

Of course, I do hope that one day when I grow old, my children will be there for me. After all, I’m someone who can’t be alone and needs lots of companionship.

Ethan’s FIRST

Its Ethan’s very first movie for 2010 and his first visit to a cinema in Singapore. Why is it in Singapore? Cause Ethan actually visited the IMax Theatre when we were in Sydney last year and we actually watched a movie about the underwater world then.

Today, we watched Shrek, Forever After in 3D. I’m not too sure what’s the difference between this movie with Avatar as the ticket price was $14 per person. But for Ethan, I guess everything is worth it.

I was actually abit worried about how Ethan will react in the cinema. Back in Sydney, he fell asleep and didn’t really dare to watch it. Just before we entered the theatre, I bought Ethan a Shrek cup with a Shrek figurine. When the show started, he was actually alittle scared and was holding my hand tightly. But as the show progresses, he slowly released my hand and started to enjoy the show. I check on him occasionally during the show and he gave me a smile.

After the show, he told me, “I want to watch Shrek again!” After today, I know that Ethan is now ready for the movies and its about time to visit the cinema soon.

Twitter vs Echofon

Finally, Twitter released an official Twitter App. After using Echofon as my “official” Twitter App, I’ve decided to try the official one, but with hesitation. The Reason: I’ve actually paid for the Echofon app that I’m currently using.

After downloading it, I fell in love with the Twitter app. First, its free and because its free, I love it even more. I don’t need to pay to add more than one Twitter account (I’ve got my own Twitter account and I’m monitoring the Punggol one too). Its quite easy to switch to this official app since the interface is almost similar.

But the love soon fades away after I use it even more. First, there isn’t any numbering indication on the number of new tweets since your last log in. How do you know if there is a new update? Well, there is a blue “light” at the bottom of the respective icons.

Next, I can’t even retweet with comments. I completely understand how the developers wants to keep the interface as close to the website as possible, but this doesn’t seems possible. The developers got to understand the difference between typing using a keyboard and a touchpad. Its not really easy to cut, copy or paste and key in RT etc.

Something that I thought Echofon stands out is its ability to provide the closest twitter friend when you enter @friend’snick. For now, I thought the amount of money I paid extra for to add an additional Twitter account to monitor is worthwhile and will stick to Echofon till the official Twitter App is upgraded to at least match what Echofon is doing.

Citibank iPhone App, Finally!

Its finally here. Citibank has finally launched their iPhone App. I’m now able to check my statement of accounts, do my funds transfer and check where is the nearest Citibank ATM machine via my iPhone. There is a section where the latest credit card promotions is updated as well.

In terms of loading, you got to wait an average of 5 seconds for the app to load from section to section. Apparently, I realised that it does not have the loading icon when the page is loading from a section to another, but its actually loading. So be patient and do not do anything but just wait.  This is thus far, one of the first few apps that I really like and personally found it useful for my day to day life.

Ethan and Ezanne fun time!

It all started with me trying to take video of Ezanne playing with the car. Then came Ethan who started to become funny and pretended to be a monster. He tried to scare his sister but hey, sister Ezanne isn’t afraid at all. I love this video, especially when Ethan got choked. Enjoy the video.

Support SYOG, Singapore 2010

As a Singaporean, I thought I ought to do my part and show my support for the first Youth Olympic Games in August. First, I want to share this really catchy and personally thought alittle patriotic song or erm is it cheer called Cheer Singapore by JJ Lin.

With about 90 days left, you can find out more via SYOG website. There is a Singapore 2010 Twitter account which you can follow as well. Well, I followed, took part in a competition and won myself some Singapore 2010 stuff which included my favourite lanyard.

Let’s help to make this event a memorable one and remember to be part of Singapore 2010 in one way or another…

Whitley Road Big Prawn Mee

What is prawn mee without any pork in it? Tasteless? Well, I tried Whitley Road Big Prawn Mee and well, in my opinion, pretty disappointing. When the food came, I was rather impress, the colour of the soup and the prawns made it look so tasty.

The only good thing I like about the prawn mee is the prawns. They’ve remove the prawn shells for you which makes it easy to eat. As for the soup, it will only become tasty after some time of having it. And the prawn mee, is just prawn and mee, nothing extra – No fish cake and no pork.

I don’t think I will be returning to this shop and eat anymore. Overall, the rating is just 2 out of 5. In case you want to try, its just located next to IRAS building and parking is available just in front of the shop.
