Exams Fever is ON!

The EXAM Fever is ON! This is my final semester but I don’t know why, as compared to my previous 2 exams, I seriously can’t concentrate much. Frankly speaking, I’ve only started my reading on Saturday night. How do I concentrate when I was watching CNN, following the earthquake news in Chile? The worst thing was I only realised that its an open book exam only TODAY! Ok, all this while, I thought it was a close book exam.

I’ve got to go back to office in the morning to settle some work in the morning, so I hope I’ll be able to do some final read up when I get back home. Then on Wednesday, just before my exams at night, I’m going for my IPPT.

With so much things going on, I just hope that I’ll be able to pass my exams. Its the final one before I move on to the next chapter of my studies, please pray for me and wish me luck.

Yah! Yes! Got Difference?

Wifey asked me the other day

Do you love me?

Then I replied

Yah…

Wifey was not happy with the answer and said that I should say Yes and not say Yah. I thought Yah and Yes had the same meaning, but wifey doesn’t agree. Anyway, the girls on my Twitter list has responded.

RWS changes Singapore’s Tourism Landscape

10 years ago, you will never dream of a theme park like Universal Studios coming to Singapore. What you will think of is to buy an air ticket to Hong Kong or Tokyo Disneyland during the June or December holidays with your children or if you have more money to spare, maybe you can bring your family to US.

10 years later, when you alight at Sentosa’s Waterfront Station, you will step into Resorts World @ Sentosa, a new tourist destination that has Southeast Asia’s only Universal Studio and Singapore’s first casino. The place where the former Sentosa ferry terminal used to be is now a place thriving with activities. Even though the resort is not fully completed, you still get to see lotsa of tourists moving about. There were street performers whom I thought could be more engaging and more exciting and more variety.

On the way to the Casino, you will see shops of luxury brands like Cartier and Coach. Then you will pass by a passageway which for a moment, I thought I was at Resorts World Genting.

There was a sneak preview for Universal Studios which tickets were sold out and we couldn’t get the chance to enter to take alook. But we still manage to visit the Chocolate Factory by Hershey’s which was just next to it. Well, there were quite a number of different chocolates on sale and just to warn you, prepare to burn a hole in your pocket.

The place is in my opinion, not really ready yet. Most of the shops are either empty or under renovations. Based on the notices I saw, the best time to go is from April onwards when the shops and the theme park is opened. For now, unless you are going to try your lady luck at the casino, otherwise, you will probably spend an hour before moving off to your next destination. But I reckon, I’ll be back again maybe for my wife’s birthday.

River Hongbao 2010

We’ve visited River Hongbao every year and this year, all of us felt that it was so much more interesting compared to previous years.  Its always difficult to see crowd at River Hongbao, but this year, its simply crowded, the place was packed with people. Many were taking pictures of the exhibits and many were enjoying the rides by Uncle Ringo. It is the 2nd time that the event is held at The Float @ Marina Bay and from the way things are done, the organizers have learnt from last year’s experience.

Ethan took many pictures with the exhibits like the Tigers and Pandas. Of course, we never miss the opportunity of taking a family photo as well.  While they have exhibits on the Chinese Zodiac, I just grab the chance to take picture with Ethan since both of us belongs to the same Zodiac sign, Dog.

Of course, whenever you visit River Hongbao, you should not miss the God of Fortune.

小虎队 is back!

It should be more than 20 years since we last see the 3 ‘Tigers” performing together. The 3 “Tigers” I’m referring to are the 3 guys from 小虎队 who reformed to perform on CCTV’s Chinese New Year show. Its really quite funny to see 3 boys men doing dance routine and behaving like as if they are in their early 20s. Nevertheless, it was really nice to see them back on stage again, but should they perform they next time, they should just evolve and sing with some new dance steps and not those cheesy ones.

The Talking Has Begin…

Ezanne started blabbering weeks ago and now, she has started to say something clearly. For a start, she called papa and mama. As of today, she can say neng neng (which means milk), Ah Ma (Grandmother), Deh Deh (short form for daddy), Mama (Mummy) and like what Ethan used to call his grandfather, Na Na… Sometimes I just think that its like brother like sister, there are too much similarity between the both of them.

Ezanne has also found started a new way of drinking milk, which is sitting upright and drink.

We realised that Ezanne is still alittle shy and this is something that she will need more time to be more friendly. So the next time if you see Ezanne and if she gives you the bo chap look, please forgive her as she is simply shy…

Ezanne’s 1st Birthday

Finally it was here, Ezanne’s 1st Birthday on 15 February. It was a meaningful day as it was Chinese New Year  and it was the exact day when Ezanne was born. Ezanne is the 8th family member of our family and the very first girl to the family as well.

Just when everyone was preparing, I decided to take a picture with wifey for a couple shot. Oh and I thought this is one of the best pictures that I’ve ever taken. At least, wifey commented that I don’t even look this good when I took my wedding photo.

So the guests started arriving and we oversee the setup of the buffet stuff.

I’ve always sourced for unique birthday cakes and on top of that try to have something special for the party. For Ezanne, I’ve gotten my neighbour and internet friend, Huda, to help us to prepare 50 cow themed cupcakes. Unfortunately, the cows melted when I was about to collect it and Huda was not able to get it down on time and replaced it with muffins instead. Nevertheless, my relatives enjoyed the cupcakes and had given positive reviews of it.

When the night falls, it was time to cut the birthday cake. Ezanne appeared in an almost similar outfit with the character in the cake!

And finally, it was time for a family photo which is always my favourite.

The day ended with a lo hei and I assume everyone enjoyed themselves. For me, it was a tiring day but a memorable one too.

新年初一

The first day of Chinese New Year, the first Chinese New Year for Ezanne. Like what we usually does previously, the moment the clock strikes 12 on the first day of Chinese New Year, we will gather together with my relatives to pray at the Guan Yin Temple at Waterloo Street. Compared to last year, we were slightly earlier this year and it was more crowded.

Not too sure if the quality of the joss sticks had dropped, Jingyi and my aunties and cousin suffered burns from the ashes. After the praying, we headed to Chinatown just to feel the festive mood. There were last minute shopping by some people and stalls giving away free stuff and some stalls offering unbelievable discounts. By the time I send my aunties and cousin home, it was already past 3am.

Overslept till about 11am and only left home for the first visit at 1 plus. The first day of Chinese New Year is visiting for us and the second day will be people visiting us. It’s Ezanne’s first birthday and I’m really looking forward to it. Its the first time we are celebrating birthday on Chinese New Year ands I’ve ordered 50 cow themed cupcakes and wonder how its gonna turn out.

恭喜发财

Its Chinese New Year eve and its a day which I’ve been looking forward to. After a busy and hectic year, finally its time to take a break and do a stock take of what had happened over the past year and how to move things on for the following. Chinese New Year is a time to gather and bond with family and that’s the reason why I make it a point every year, we will have a set of family outfit. Regardless how difficult it is, I’ll make sure that we will find a set of family outfit, well, this could be something that the Pang family is doing…

Reunion dinner is also a must have during Chinese New Year eve. Our reunion dinner is made up of a combination of home cooked food and food bought by my aunties. Its definitely a sumptuous one but I thought, it was really early that we had it, it was 5pm when we had our dinner.

After getting back home, surprisingly, there was lion dance. Quickly took Ethan out to take alook at it, since it is his favourite. While they were preparing, Ethan literally had a hands on experience on the drum!

Its about 8 minutes more to the first day of Chinese New Year, 恭喜发财.

Singapore Airshow 2010

This was the first time all of us attended the Singapore Airshow 2010. While I’m in the midst of shifting office, I still managed to find some time to bring Ethan to the airshow to look at big jumbo jets and helicopters.

I read in the papers that travelling to Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) was a big problem in 2008 but for Singapore Airshow 2010, it was definitely not a problem. We arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 3, took the shuttle service, which we didn’t have to wait at all and arrived at CEC within 15 minutes. At the CEC itself, there were at least 20 walk-thru metal detectors.

If I was to attend Singapore Airshow 2012, one thing that I will definitely bring is mineral water. Each bottle of mineral water sold at the airshow was $2, its like daylight robbery. There were long queues everywhere whenever there was a photo opportunity with the jets. Well, Ethan had the opportunity to take pictures with the pilot too!

The aerial display was rather disappointing. I thought I could see more than 1 fighter jet at least flying pass each other and doing some stunts, but sadly, it was only 1 fighter jet and 1 helicopter, simply not interesting at all. It was literally planes flying around.

Though it was slightly boring for me, but I’m glad Ethan enjoyed himself as he managed to see the big jets (that’s what Ethan says usually when he sees aeroplane.
