Special Update: Starhub TVB TV Awards 2010

Thanks for everyone who have been visiting to see the pictures, the good news is all the pictures have been uploaded, there are 325 of them so enjoy.

My wifey got some videos and I’m currently in the midst of uploading them. Once its ready, I’ll post them here. So please hang on for alittle while more.

1st Starhub TVB Awards

Its the 1st time Starhub organizes the Starhub TVB Awards, my first time attending an award ceremony and first time coming face to face with the Hong Kong actors and actresses. There are 12 TVB artistes who attended the award ceremony including their Steven Chen. Instead of the usual red carpet, Starhub has the carpet in green colour, obviously, its to suit their company’s official colour.

We were told to reach at 6.30pm and registration was a breeze. The actual “green carpet” show started at about 7.30pm and security was really tight. I even got pushed several times by the inconsiderate security who actually hit my camera lens. Anyway, the actors and actresses appeared in pairs and they included our favourites like Raymond Lam, Charmine Seah, Susanna Kwan, Sonja Kwok etc.

The actual show then started with the usual dance and performance with Susanna Kwan singing a LIVE version of 讲不出的心声. There were breaks in between for us to consume our 4 course western dinner. I personally thought the security was really tight, so much so, the security were so sensitive to the people around, asking guests to leave when they were trying to take pictures of their idol. There were no photo opportunities for the guests to take with their favourite actor or actress. BUT, I’ve got my fair share of close encounter, I actually went into the toilet at the same time as Moses Chan. But I didn’t have much to say cause I was caught by surprise!

Basically, everyone who attended brought back at least 1 award. Other than that, 杨怡 Tavia Yeung and 李司棋 Louise Lee both got an award. I believe everyone is interested with the results and here they are;
My Favourite TVB Actress:  佘诗曼 Charmaine Sheh
My Favourite TVB Actor: 林峰 Raymond Lam

The show ended with a toast of success followed by a group photo of the artistes and Starhub Senior Management.

If you did not attend the award, you can still watch the show on Starhub TV Channel 55 on 14 February @ 7.45pm.

For those who of you who are interested in saving the photos and posting it elsewhere, appreciate you can credit the blog. I’ve came across several sites which are irresponsible and shamelessly claim that the pictures were taken by them. For those who have credited, THANK YOU!

Lastly, all 325 pictures that I’ve taken has been uploaded in the gallery.

Starhub TVB Awards

The countdown has begin and in less than 19 hours, I’ll be attending the Starhub TVB Awards. I’m getting really excited, though I might be abit late for the event as I’ll be rushing down from Choa Chu Kang to Ritz Carlton. Stay tuned for the pictures and some of my exclusive insights for the event. In case you are wondering how I got the tickets, well, Starhub had a competition for their platinum club members, I submitted my interest and then I won the tickets.

Special mention by Yesterday.sg on Twitter

I was surprised to see Yesterday.sg posting a link to my blog post on my visit to Chinatown. Well, I’ve actually drop by their site and left a comment that I’ve made a post about my visit to Chinatown and didn’t expect them to broadcast to everyone via Twitter about it.

So what is Yesterday.sg all about? It is a website that talks about the heritage of Singapore and provides updates to the different heritage exhibitions going on at our museums.

If you’ve missed the post on my visit to Chinatown, you can still read it here.

Its back in Punggol

We thought due to the current developments, we would never see another kite event, but finally, its back again, Singapore International Kite Day @ Punggol and Teens’ Day 2010. Tickets are available at $3 each and features many exciting stunt kites.

Chinatown Light Up 2010

Chinese New Year is about 3 weeks away and Chinatown is a definitely must go during this period of time. Its not about buying things there, but to enjoy the festive mood. It was the Chinese New Year Light Up on Saturday (23 January) and I thought, it was pretty disappointing.

I thought the organizers could have had performers that can engaged the audience, they should not concentrate the performances to just the stage area, if they want, they could have put up more screens for the crowd to watch. There were no fireworks, but just fire crackers and everyone just left after the fire crackers. I thought the lightings this year were simply boring and they actually recycled the God of Fortune that they used last year.

Performances

You will have to walk around the street bazaar to enjoy the festive mood. There are the usual mochi, dried food and Chinese New Year decorations.

Its better not to say…

I don’t know if you’ve experience yourself before, but ever since being in my new department, I’ve been really careful with what I say and what I do. My colleagues and I often has discussions and whenever we mention about something, what we discuss come true, although, it was just plain discussion which we did not expect anything constructive to be done.

Yesterday, one of my colleague was on leave and the night before, they were discussing if I would remember to bring the keys to the office and so they thought most probably I’ve forgotten to bring the keys home. Well, they were 50% right, I forgotten to bring the keys to the office, the only difference is that I left the keys AT HOME! *faintz*

What’s the moral of the story? When you work, don’t talk…

My first interview with Straits Times

How do you feel when you are being interviewed? For me, it was my 2nd phone interview but the first one that got published onto the national paper, Straits Times and the best part, the front page of the Home Section, ok, you might be thinking what’s the big deal since its not the front page of Straits Times, but personally I thought, at least it is on the front page of a section.

It was a 20 minutes phone interview which the reporter, Weizhen from Straits Times, who tried to find out from me what Punggol.org was all about and how the portal and forum has connected the residents. The article, titled Digital Kampung, highlighted the impact of community forums and I shared my many memorable experiences with Weizhen.

Frankly speaking, there are times that I want to give up on the forum, its growing and its definitely not easy to manage. With such high profile publicity it has gotten now, greed comes in and there will be people who will want to claim credit from it. But no matter what happens in the future, I’m glad I was once part of history that brought Punggol to the cyber world and shared with many beautiful people whom some has became my best of friends. The forum has grown and now I’m out to experience new stuff like updating everyone via Twitter. I got to admit, it is the forum that brought me to where I am today and really, I can’t bear to leave it.

Many people who have thought that I’ve earn quite abit from the forum, but actually I don’t. Special thanks to Victor who host the website and forum and me for managing and sourcing for contents, its actually non profit and you might be thinking, how come 2 crazy guys are doing this when they have their own full time job to do, family to look after and lessons to attend. Personally, I can only say that when you see everyone enjoying themselves in the forum, sharing information with one another, you just got the sense of satisfaction.

Once again, I just want to say THANK YOU for supporting Punggol.org especially people who have been following me through since it first started in 2006, my wonderful team of moderators (Mike, Jerm, Ks, Ron, FT, cube), my wonderful forum members who have been posting non stop keeping it informative and alive (XFS for the pictures, angry, apache for the nonsense), contributors who have been providing us with information to share with fellow residents and last but not least Victor who gave me the chance to do it. And to Victor, I hope it will go on for as long as it can and I hope to be with it for as long I can. Last but not least my wife who got to put up with me for spending so much time with my laptop to work on the website and forum.

ps: The article published stated that I’m actually one of the co-founders of Punggol.sg. I just want to clarify that its wrong and I’m actually the co-founders of Punggol.org. Trust me, Punggol.org make over is coming real soon.
