Sometimes I wonder if I’ve ever got stage fright, countless presentations at work and countless training talks at work, but when it comes to doing a emcee job, I started to have cold sweat. It all happened on Wednesday at York Hotel when I attended my good friend’s, Jingyi’s best friend’s wedding.
There were about 21 tables, which meant that when I’m talking, I will be talking to approximately 210 guests (assumption that 1 table has 10 guests). Even before I can speak, there was a short briefing with the couple and the Captain for the night.
At about 8.20pm, it was the start of the dinner and of course, I started talking. Not too sure if there is a problem with the way I talk, it seems like no one was bothered about me when it started and everyone still continue to talk among themselves. Then the video played, the couple walked in and it was the cake cutting.
After the 4th dish, I went back to stage again for the toasting. Personally I thought I did well during the toasting, cause I was able to get the whole ballroom to YAM SENG with me. The emcee job ended after the toasting ended.
Jingyi told me that she has never doubted me and that I’ve done a great job! But to me, it was just ok. Well, if there is a next time, I hope I will be able to do it better.
