Meetings, Meetings, Meetings

It has been weeks of meetings, meetings and more meetings. I’ve taken the longest break from my blog because I was simply too busy, too tired and too lazy to update it. Imagine waking up at around 5 everyday and sleeping around 12 plus, I’m lucky to have a colleague (my 徒弟) who is able to assist me in the things that I do.

Over the past week, there were so much things that I wanted to blog, from my memories at Raffles City, Michael Jackson’s death and of course my experience at SAYG Torch Relay. For the first two, I don’t think I want to elaborate much for now cause I’m simply too tired and too lazy. But for the torch relay, I’ll update in another post.

Due to my busy schedule, Ethan was not able to meet up with his aunties and grand aunt. Basically, my weekends were either spent working in office or enjoying my sleep at home.

Anyway, with one of my event ending soon and the other also happening soon, I’ll be able to constantly update my blog again.

I’ve got selected to attend CR2

I was just trying to see if I was lucky enough to be one of the 50 who will be selected to attend NDP Combined Rehearsal 2, and true enough, I was selected. I was so looking forward to attend the event and watch the parade, but due to work commitment, I’ve got to turn down the offer.

 NDPeeps
The Facebook message (above) was sent to me from the organizer.

Frankly speaking, I find this year’s NDP committee to be really engaging, maybe because they are using new media to reach out to every Singaporean, and was surprised to find them updating real time on the on-going activities for combined rehearsal 1 on Twitter. I think this is something that other national event can consider doing.

Our education system

Last week, I was discussing about the education system with one of my colleagues after one ugly incident we experienced. There were about 3 of us having breakfast together and 2 of us, decided to go for more. When we came back, we saw this lady who just conveniently put her plate on the table (without asking my 1 other colleague who was still sitting there). Then I told the lady that we are sitting there and guess what she replied, “But there are so many other seats around, can’t you just sit elsewhere?” Since this is a public place, I tried to keep my cool and told her again, “Excuse me, we are sitting there, we just went to get our food and my colleague is still there.” She then mumbled and walk off to another table. IF she had asked, I would have let her sit down, but then again, since she did not take any initiative, its only right I teach her a lesson.

Anyway, so we started to discuss our education system. So my colleague told me that in her daughter’s school, whenever there is a dispute going on between the students and when their teachers are not around, the dispute is never being attended to. Even when a teacher from any class walk past, he/she will just continue to walk and pretend that nothing has happened. I can’t really verify if this is true, but if this is happening, it will be worrying, cause it would mean that our teachers have become alittle self-centred and selfish and how do our children learn in such an environment. I would think that our children will also grow and learn and become self-centred.

I’m eagerly waiting for Ethan to be Primary 1 and from then, I will be able to judge myself.

N’Sync – I Drive Myself Crazy

Let’s go back to the 90s to the boyband era where there were several great songs, including this one from N’Sync, I Drive Myself Crazy.

Ethan is on camera again!

After being sick for slightly more than a week, Ethan is finally able to smile, be active and start taking pictures again. But before I show you the pictures, here’s a status update of how much he has grown so far.

He now speaks to me in English, mixture of English, Chinese and Cantonese with my parents and mummy. Grandpa has also started to teach him Teochew (yes, he can’t forget our Teochew roots). He is able to form sentences when he speaks and able to tell you the things that he wants to do and doesn’t want to do. He can speak better over the phone now and can really tell you what he is doing or have been doing.

And here are his latest pictures.

Super busy

It has been a super busy week. With less than 5 hours of sleep daily, preparing and rushing for documents in order to ensure that the event run smoothly. Late night meetings has become a norm and non-stop ringing of phone is becoming usual as well. Due to the busy schedule, I’ve not talked to Ethan and Ezanne for the past 3 days and which means, they’ve not seen me for the past 3 days as well. For the upcoming week, its expected to be equally bad as well.

Its Saturday today and I hope that I will be able to spend some time with the kids later and take some pictures with them. I just realised that this is the 4th post without any pictures posted, so it makes the blog abit plain.

1st day at work for Jingyi

Jingyi has started working yesterday and according to her, its a matter of getting used to the routine again. After approximately 7 months working office hours and 4 months of maternity leave, I can simply understand how hard it is to get back to work, especially when you are doing shift duty. But most importantly to her, she missed the 2 kids at home.

1st day of work was all about catching up, the things that she missed, its a pity that I couldn’t get some updates from her in the day cause I was busy running around for meetings, recces etc.

Back home, Ezanne woke up at 6.15am, exactly the time when we left home for work and did not sleep until 10am. She seems to know that mummy has started work and is alittle not used to it. In the evening, she was crying and crying. When we got back, Jingyi went over and say, “Hi Ezanne” and when you see her smile, it will just melt your heart. Well, afterall, over the past 4 months, she has spent most of her time with mummy.

For Ethan, he did not attend school again. He is still coughing and according to grandma, he is still not eating, simply losing his appetite. This is alittle worrying and Jingyi will be bringing him to Dr Liew again later on.

Pampering Sunday

Ethan was sick, so my mum look after him at home, while Jingyi and I took sometime out for a haircut. So why Sunday for a haircut, cause Jingyi will be starting work on Wednesday (so fast, 4 months just pass) and since I’ve been super busy over the past week, I just need something to make me feel that what I’ve worked for is worthwhile.

So we went to the salon, for haircut, washing of hair, blowing of hair and gossiping with our stylist. The moment we stepped into the salon, everyone was looking for Ethan. So after the cutting, washing and blowing, we decided to go for a walk at HarbourFront then to Vivocity for our dinner. Jingyi had been eyeing for tops for quite sometime and since Levis Signature has sale, we decided to just get something from them. Then we had dinner at Japanese Gourmet Town at Vivocity, actually its by Aijisen, but still it was nice.

After the dinner, we then went walk walk at Vivocity Thai Fashion Festival. We got Ethan a long sleeve shirt and myself, a short bermudas. I don’t know how to describe but can only say that its short. Anyway, good time always pass so quickly, cause after awhile, I realised that we were late as we got to buy dinner for everyone at home and I’ve got to wash my car and pump petrol…

H1N1: 34 cases in Singapore and our near H1N1 experience

Its terrible to get sick during this period of time especially when you are down with fever, sore throat, cough and flu. These were exactly what Ethan was down with when we brought him to see the doctor again this morning. And so, the doctor asked the magical question again, “Did Ethan come into contact with anyone who has return from H1N1 affected countries?” My answer to her was “NO” BUT, I do not know if any of his classmates has been to H1N1 affected countries.

But then again, as we discuss with the doctor, the childcare would have turn away students who are sick. So after much deliberation, the doctor decided to give him addtional medication. I could see from the doctor’s face that she was thinking, and thinking and thinking whether to call 993, and I was hoping she would not, cause I just cannot imagine how we are going to manage it. And since Ethan did not come into contact with anyone who went to H1N1 affected countries (to my knowledge), I was pretty confident that the doctor would not have done so.

Separately, Singapore has reported 34 cases as of Saturday, an increase of 7 such cases. So far, all the cases, except 1, are imported cases and let’s hope that this situation will remain as it is and there will not be any community spread.

Moby – Porcelain

If I remembered correctly, this song was used for a Motorala advertisement some years back. I happened to come across this song yesterday and thought of sharing it.
