Jingyi’s birthday celebration @ Fullerton Hotel

I remembered Jingyi once told me that she wants to try out all the hotels in the Marina Bay area. So I’ve decided that we shall stay at one of the bay hotels on her birthday every year. I started this “tradition” 3 years ago at Marina Mandarin, last year we went Ritz Carlton and this year, its Fullerton Hotel.

We check in at about 2 plus with Ethan and based on my earlier request, the room was facing Marina Reservoir and the birthday cake was promptly delivered after we’ve reached our room. Ethan was so happy when he saw the cake and he started singing Happy Birthday. But the most touching moment I guess was when Ethan sang the part, “Happy Birthday to Mummy”.

After the cake cutting, eating the cake and some photo taking, we send Ethan back home as we’ve got to rush for our facial appointment in Orchard. After the facial appointment, we went back to the hotel to enjoy the 4 course dinner which we had in our room. I had western and Jingyi got local but guess what she ate, BAK KU TEH! OMG! I know that the options were limited, but why bak ku teh?? Well, according to her, it tasted really good (of course, its bak ku teh served by a 5 star hotel!) and she really love it.

After dinner, both of us stroll along Esplanade Bridge, Raffles Ave to Marina Sq to catch a movie. It has been more than a year since I last step into a cinema and ages since I last caught a show at night. The feeling was refreshing.

It was an enjoyable night for both of us as it has been about a year since we last spend time together, just the 2 of us. I hope we will still continue this “tradition” next year and the many years to come.

So true…

I was just trying out the Palm Reading on Facebook and what can I say, its just so true. Personally, I thought what it had mentioned has really happened or is happening to me.

Eventful and fulfilling life
Your hands tell you that you will have an eventful and fulfilling life in which you enjoy exciting successful career and personal moves and the fact that you are making a tangible impact on people around you. You will find constant changing factors around you and at times you may feel tired having to keep up with them, but you will always feel fulfilled looking back at the things you’ve accomplished.

H1N1: Singapore has 4 cases and my experience

Since the first reported case 2 days ago, I believed the measures taken at clinic and hospitals has gone up again. I’ve visited my GP today for a follow up cause at times, I still feel feverish and of course, my throat is still really painful. When I reached, the clinic staff were donning mask. Even the doctor was donning the mask and during the consultation, my doctor asked me the magical question, “Did you came into contact with friends who went overseas recently?” And my answer was, “Erm, I don’t think so.” Ok, for the people around me, I’m defintely sure but for the people whom I’m meeting, frankly speaking, I don’t know.

So I supposed the next time when we go for meetings, we should not say “Hi, how are you?” But we should say, “Hi, have you been to any H1N1 affected countries recently?”

I just hope that everything will be under control and defintely will not want to go through another SARS period. CHOI!

So understanding…

I’m really happy that the people around me are understanding during the time when I am sick. But I just got to dedicate this post to my wife.

My Wife
She has always been the support of my life. In whatever things I do, decisions that I made, she will be there supporting me. Even when I’m sick and no matter how early I need to wake up to go to work, she will be there to give me my medication and wake me up. When I am rushing for my presentation, she will be the one who will be bringing the kids to school or to the doctor for routine checkup. It has been tough on her, but she is really understanding enough to do it all alone. She dare not even call me when I’m at work, cause she just doesn’t want to disturb me when I’m squeezing my brain juice.

Last but not least, its her birthday tomorrow, and I will want to wish her, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAR!

I hate to be sick…

You might be wondering how come the blog was not updated on Tuesday, the reason was because I was down with a really bad sore throat and fever. According to my GP, I’m having throat ulcer (again!) and fever. Her advised, 3 days of MC just to rest well at home. But what happened?

On Monday, I was supposed to have a presentation for my class in the evening, but just minutes before leaving my house, I was feeling so uncomfortable (shivering with fever) that I’ve got to inform my classmate that I will not be able to make it for the presentation. The good thing was the presentation was postponed.

For Tuesday and today, while resting at home, I kept thinking about work. Thinking and thinking about the deadlines that are approaching and I just couldn’t rest well. My mum even attempted to off my handphone cause she said

How to rest well when your phone keep ringing?

Well, I guess the nature of my work doesn’t give me such luxury…

张学友 – 李香兰

I seldom listen to cantonese song, but I found this song from 张学友 called 李香兰 really good. Don’t ask me what the lyrics meant, but basically I like the music.

I just saw myself on the signboard

I was surprised to see my picture on a signboard in Punggol. I’ve attended the family carnival at Oceanus and after that, decided to enjoy my Sunday breakfast at Koufu, Punggol Plaza. It has been ages since I had breakfast over there but frankly speaking, nothing much has change.

Along the way from my flat to Punggol Plaza, there was a jogging trail signboard that we came across. The signboard had been there for about 2 years now and I realised that there had been some changes. To my surprise, I saw one of my photo on the signboard. It was a group photo taken with DPM Teo and MP Ms Penny Low during Gardens RC opening.

“Say Cheese!”

On Friday night, Ethan told me that he wanted to take some pictures, so I quickly went to take out the camera, and Ethan started to pose on the bed. I would say each time when he sees the camera, he will start posing naturally and like some people mention, really professional.

I’ve also tried taking black and white pictures. 1st try, hope it is still fine.

Crocs EXPO Sale… Good deals, good buys

The Crocs Expo Sale started yesterday and we’ve decided to visit the event today. Generally, the sale event was very well managed, they divided Hall 4 into 2. Half of the hall was used for queuing up where lanes were setup to guide people through and the other half was of course the hall where the action took place.

This was the first time that I’ve started to provide almost real time updates from the event site via Twitter, it was pretty interesting cause you update and people comment it almost at the same time and I hope I will be able to do more of it next time. If you are interested, you can follow me on Twitter.

Back to the sale, generally everything was alright just that some people managed to chop their queue, 1 or 2 family members came to queue, then suddenly another 7 to 8 came to join. Within the hall itself, you can see that many people were having a bagful of crocs shoes, but they are not getting all, they just go to one corner, start trying then leave it there, pretty inconsiderate.

It seems like there is a limit to the number of shoes that they are selling. Jingyi was looking for a size 5 shoe, and to her surprise, all types of size 5 shoes were sold out. But in any case, we still managed to get 3 pairs, 1 for myself, 1 for Ethan and 1 for Ezanne. Each pair of shoes were about $30 to $40.

A special gift | A special friend

Jingyi’s birthday is just like one week away and she has already received her first birthday gift from a special friend, Ada. Urghh, how come I’m not the first one, but anyway, mine will be on the actual day. Ok, so Ada has given her a Keropi cup, which Jingyi likes it very much and a scrap book.

Jingyi was really impressed with the scrap book, cause it consists of pictures that were taken sometime back and current pictures that were posted on Facebook. When you see the scrapbook, you will know that Ada has put in lotsa of effort and she will be pleased to know that Jingyi loves it very much and almost burst into tears when she saw it, cause it was simply too IMPRESSIVE.
