Gynae checkup

Its been 6 weeks since Jingyi has given birth to Ezanne. How time really flies, Ezanne is growing steadily each day and its really so fulfilling to see her doing new things each day. Its just like a quick rewind when we enjoyed those growing up moments when Ethan was a baby (hmm, we are still enjoying Ethan growing up process).

So I managed to take a half day leave from my busy schedule to accompany her to see the gynae for followup checkup. Actually, I thought of asking her to do the visit herself cause I’ve got a rather important meeting in the afternoon, but then again, after giving her so much empty promises due to work commitment, I thought it was only right to proceed as usual, just that I need to work out some time.

Our gynae, Dr Benjamin Tham, is a really wonderful doctor. He is so popular that we’ve got to wait for an hour before we can see him even though we were at the Private Suite (patients at the private suite are told that they will have shorter waiting time). He will explain everything to us in detail, and he even helped me to convince Jingyi for a No.3. Oops, by the way, I always tell Jingyi that we have a 3 baby deal (the concept comes from F1, haha, they had a 5 year deal with the government, and so I’ve got a 3 baby deal with my wife). She had not come to a decision yet, but since we are both still young, there is still time for her to be ready for the 3rd one.

Dr Tham gave Jingyi a clean bill of health and said that he hoped to see her soon (haha, he is “cursing” her to get pregnant again!) By the way, remember I said that we waited for one hour before we saw him, many things happened during that one hour, I’ll explain it in my next entry.

陳綺貞 (Cheer Chen)-距離

Ok, I didn’t know that 陳綺貞 is actually known as Cheer Chen in English. But anyway, I’ve always like this singer cause I find her vocal quite distinct. This song, 距離, is from her latest album. I hope you will like it.

I wonder if Ethan understands…

These days, talking to Ethan is like having a serious conversation with an adult. You can argue with him and joke with him. Sometimes, when you talk to him, he will even reply you candidly. For example, my aunty asked him, “Is your mummy beautiful?” He replied, “Yes!” Then, she asked, “Is your sister beautiful?” He replied, “Yes!” Then my aunty asked, “Is this girl beautiful?” He said, “NO!”

I don’t know if he knows the meaning of beautiful, but isn’t it so funny that he knows how to answer the question in a politically correct manner.

Why learning Chinese is important

I was a facilitator for a discussion yesterday morning. The discussion was primarily held in English, however, some of the participants were Chinese and they didn’t quite understand the presentation as well as the discussion topics.

As a facilitator, my job was to get them into discussion and of course, before they could start discussing, I’ve got to translate the discussion topics into Chinese. I’ve got to tell you its the most difficult thing to do. I started with a few words, then paused and thought, what should I say next? Then I continued and I paused again. Seeing that I’ve got some difficulty in translating, one of them said in Chinese, “See, you young people don’t want to learn Chinese, that’s why now got problem!”

Haiz, actually I did a Chinese presentation before, but for that, I had some time to search for the right words and practice. But for this, it was really impromptu. I guess, I might need to watch CCTV News to learn more perfect Chinese.

Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant

One of my colleague brought us to this turkish resturant to try some authentic turkish food. This place is called Sofra Turkish Cafe and Restaurant located at Shaw Towers. This is the first time that I’ve been to the carpark of Shaw Towers and really, it is an ancient carpark. You got to press for a ticket and pay just before you leave the carpark, but of course, according to my colleague, the carpark are cheap.

Back to the food. For the starters, my colleague recommended Red Lentil Soup, it is a turkish soup with red lentil and herbs. It comes with a bread and it was fantastic. We ordered another started called Hummus which has this mildly spiced cream mixture of chicken peas and tahini with lemon juice. We ate it together with Sesame Bread (as recommended by waitress).

For the main course, I had Shish Kebap, which is grilled cube meat served with Turkish cracked meat. You can have a choice of 2 types of meat (beef, lamb or chicken). My colleague had Beyti Kebap (turkish popiah), it was good too, and the presentation was good (exactly the same as the menu). My other colleague (the one who treated us) had Chef Plate which is a combination of Doner Kebap, Izagara Kofte (don’t ask me what’s that, cause I also don’t know) and a skewer of Shish Kebap.

Overall, the food is good. I rate 4/5.

The NIQC Journey

The Beginning
5th February marks a day where I’ve left an important and memorable milestone in my career. My team was selected to represent my organization for the NIQC Competition. Frankly speaking when I first received the email, I was happy yet worried, cause no one in my division has reach this level and I was afraid I will not have the time to commit, cause very quickly, I’ve got to commit myself to 5 lessons of crash course to prepare my report and presentation.

The Process
I was embrassed and stress up during the first lesson. Other teams has done a much better job than me by having a fantastic report, but for me, it was a really lousy one, it was one report that I will never want to share with anybody. As Jingyi gave birth in mid-Feb, it has created a really big problem for me, cause within that week, there was 2 lessons. 1 of it Melvin attended for me, while the other, we skip it as we were both engaged. Soon, it was the last lesson for report writing. My team was highlighted by the trainer for not submitting the paper. Time was running out to submit and exam was just 1 week away, I spent the last few days before submission, working on the report and sending it to the trainer for vetting.

In the days that leads to the competition, it was defintely nerve biting for me. I was thinking of the skit, wondering what storyboard should I have, the flow of the presentation, what to present and the overall package for the team. Rehearsals after rehearsals, my team members would have gotten pissed off with me, cause I’ve asked them to re-do, repeat and amend. During our internal meetings, I told my team, “We should not let our organization down and we must do everyone proud, being the first to represent our division, it is our utmost duty to do our best!”

On competition day (which is today), all of us put in our best effort and really gave it our best. The 3 judges were listening and enjoying our presentation and for once I thought, maybe I can try the marketing profession, cause I was hard selling my innovation.

The End Result
We’ve got a SILVER, a result which I am very satisfied and proud of.

Stop Speculating

This is not a stock market, and so I urged those who are working around me to stop whatever speculations that is going on right now. I just hope that I can be left alone to do my work quietly and for those who are interested to know whatever stuff you want to know, we will all know when the time comes.

For those who are spreading negative stuff, I’m totally not bothered with what you say right now, so if you think you can affect my performance based purely on your negative speculation, sorry, you lost! You might look down on me, but I guess, the time will come when I prove you right.

What a future, its cool, isn’t it?

Came across this video in Facebook. It is a video by Microsoft Labs which envisioned the world in 2019 and beyond. Everything are touch screen and even the papers has moving pictures. Every item that you carry has a multi purpose function. Watch it and you will be fascinated by it.

梁文音-最幸福的事

I really love this song, anyway, all the songs that I’ve posted are those that I like. But after reading the lyrics, listening to 梁文音 singing it, she’s really put in so much feelings into the song, I’m so touched that my tears started rolling… Especially this one, 為摯愛的人 在左邊心口保留位置 是最幸福的事.
