I don’t know if this happens to every kid who become an elder, but apparently it does as what my boss told me this afternoon after our run.
When we were at the hospital, everyone of us thought that Ethan was receptive towards his sister, he was touching his sister and making sure that she is taken care of by the elder brother.
The drama started unfolding when we got back home. Ethan refuses to let Ezanne sleep on his baby cot and started crying and throwing his temper. What we noticed, he just needs attention and wants us to show him lotsa of care and concern (more than what we do previously). He felt neglected, something I did not feel I’ve loved him less, but in fact, more.
This is the 3rd day since Ezanne is home and Ethan is gradually accepting the fact that his sister is around. We’ve also got him involved in some chores to keep him occupied as well as letting him know that he is part of the family and we should all be together. I’ve also observed that he is closer to me these days. I feed him, bathe him and play with him, more than anytime over the past 2 years 8 months.
Oh and guess what, Ethan started calling me Daddy instead of deh deh. When I first heard that, I was really touched.
