Why the rush?

TransitLink has started exchanging the exisiting EZ link cards for the new ones and according to reports from Channel NewsAsia, some 40,000 did the exchange on the first days.

From what I observed yesterday at Raffles Place MRT, the queue was really long and there was only 1 counter serving. The situation was similar at Chinatown MRT Station.

A pointer to note, each person is only entitled to exchange 3 cards.

Just wondering, since the full implementation is only in September, how come everyone is so eager to exchange for the new cards? Shouldn’t we be busy preparing Chinese New Year now?
